Individual victories from Greg Shack, Noah Ottum, Rami Pellumbi and Abraham Correa-Medina fueled South's championship Saturday at the Lancer Smith Memorial wrestling tournament in Palmer.
The Wolverines piled up 224.5 points to top one of Alaska's premier wrestling events. Colony took second place with 178.5 points and Lathrop wsa third with 164.5.
The two-day tournament featured wrestlers from 43 schools across Alaska.
It also featured a National Wrestling Hall of Fame announcer on the microphone. Sandy Stevens of Iowa, known as the "Voice of Wrestling," has worked for nearly half a century announcing wrestling tournaments, including the Olympics and 34 NCAA Division I national championships.
