3 dead in fiery crash on Parks Highway near Wasilla

Update, Dec. 23, 4 p.m.: Alaska State Troopers have identified the two passengers killed in the Dec. 1 collision as 53-year-old Patricia Goodwin and 9-year-old Aryanah Still, both of Willow. Their next of kin has been notified.

Original Story: Three people died in a head-on collision late Tuesday on the Parks Highway just west of Wasilla, the Alaska State Troopers said early Wednesday.

Sara Johnston, 25, was northbound on the Parks Highway near Rainbow Street just after 9 p.m. when the 1996 Lincoln Town Car she was driving crossed into the southbound lane, troopers said. A 1995 GMC Safari van southbound on the Parks collided with the Lincoln.

Johnston died in the collision. She was not believed to have been wearing a seat belt, according to a 1 a.m. troopers dispatch. Her next of kin have been notified.

The van, driven by Jacob Still, 33, burst into flames after the crash. Two passengers in the van also died in the crash, troopers said. The names of the passengers were not released.

Hometowns of the victims were not immediately made available by troopers.
