Which office is former lawmaker Harry Crawford seeking? He's not saying, yet

Former Democratic legislator Harry Crawford is running for state office again -- but he's not saying which one.

Crawford, who spent a decade representing Anchorage in the state Legislature through 2010, lost his challenge last year to Republican incumbent Sen. Cathy Giessel, who got 55 percent of the vote to Crawford's 45 percent.

Crawford on Friday filed a letter with state regulators that allows him to start raising money for a 2016 campaign, but it didn't specify the office he's seeking. Reached by phone Monday, Crawford said he's running "for the Legislature, either in the state House or in the state Senate."

"We'll decide that at a little bit later date," he said. "I've got a couple of developments that have to fall in place, and then I will know."

Should he run for the House, Crawford would be seeking the East Anchorage seat currently held by Republican Rep. Lance Pruitt.

He said he'll announce his decision with "plenty of time" before a June 1 filing deadline.
