Soldotna woman found dead in woods after Christmas Eve argument

A Soldotna woman who got out of a car on the Kenai Spur Highway on Christmas Eve after arguing with a relative was found dead nearby more than a day later by Alaska State Troopers.

Troopers said in a Tuesday dispatch that they were informed at about 9 p.m. on Christmas Day that 45-year-old Yvonne J. Anderson had left the vehicle, near Mile 4 of the Kenai Spur Highway, at about 7:30 p.m. the previous evening.

"Troopers began searching the area on (Friday) and (just before 4 a.m. Saturday) Anderson's body was located in the woods near Mile 4 Kenai Spur Highway," troopers wrote. "The state medical examiner's office performed an autopsy and a final report is pending the results of a toxicology analysis."

No foul play is suspected in Anderson's death, which is still being looked into by the Alaska Bureau of Investigation. Her next of kin have been notified.
