Seward Highway drivers may encounter avalanche mitigation work Tuesday near Seward

Drivers along the Seward Highway are being asked to expect delays near Seward due to avalanche mitigation work by state road crews.

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities said on its Facebook page that the work will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday between Miles 19 and 39 of the highway, between the U.S. Forest Service's Primrose Campground and the Sterling Highway intersection.

"Expect delays up to 45 minutes," transportation officials wrote.

Updates on the mitigation work will be posted on the state's road-conditions website.
