Holy Cross man accused of assaulting woman for 4 hours

A Holy Cross man is facing multiple assault charges after he repeatedly attacked a relative in the Interior Alaska village, Alaska State Troopers said.

Kyle William Anthony, 24, was taken into custody on two counts each of first-degree and third-degree domestic violence assault, troopers said in a Wednesday dispatch.

According to the dispatch, Aniak-based troopers responded to Holy Cross, about 40 miles northwest of their post, at around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday after an intoxicated Anthony assaulted the victim.

"Investigation revealed, over the course of four hours, Kyle assaulted a sober female by strangling the female seven to eight times repeatedly, and punching the female in the face with a closed fist, kicking her in the face, jumping up and down on the female's back, biting her, and breaking a cup and broom over the female's head," troopers wrote.

After his arrest, Anthony was taken to Aniak, pending a transfer to the Yukon-Kuskokwim Correctional Center.
