Freshman leads UAA ski team in Colorado slalom race

Maria Gudmundsdottir, a freshman from Norway, claimed her second top-five result of the season Friday to lead the UAA alpine ski team in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

Gudmundsdottir grabbed fourth place in the women's slalom race at the Spencer James Nelson Memorial Invitational.

She was one of three Seawolves to register top-10 performances. In the men's slalom, junior Hughston Norton placed seventh and senior Sean Alexander placed eighth.

Competition continues Saturday with alpine and nordic races.
