A home-ice win: Good for the Kenai River Brown Bears

We've written a few posts this season that detailed the Kenai River Brown Bears' many sorrows, so it's only proper to congratulate the NAHL team on finally winning a home game. Hey, took 22 games, but the Brown Bears on Friday night beat visiting Springfield, 3-2.

Evan Butcher bagged two goals, Gunnar Goodmanson delivered one, Jake Eubank furnished two assists and Nicholas Nast racked 34 saves. The Brown Bears, who recently underwent a coaching change, are 3-33-1.

The Fairbanks Ice Dogs, meanwhile, continue to kill it. They thumped the visiting Minnesota Wilderness on Friday, 8-3, behind 1-4--5 from Todd Burgess, five helpers from Ryner Gorowsky and two goals from Logan Coomes. The Ice Dogs, who cashed in on four of nine power plays, are a mere 29-5-3 and own a league-best .824 winning percentage.
