Music video: Anchorage post-hardcore band Thera's 'Ancient Mariner'

Thera is a post-hardcore band that's played Southcentral Alaska for almost 10 years.

Their third and most recent EP, "For Someone, Somewhere," was released in late 2014 and features the track "Ancient Mariner," a song inspired by "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner," an 18th century lyrical poem by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. Vocalist Stephanie Plate thought the poem was a "great, creepy, dark story" and wanted to portray that in a music video.

Plate said the band also picked the song for a music video because they thought more people might enjoy it compared to their more hardcore music.

The dark, beautifully shot video was filmed north of Nikiski, with footage of the mariner recorded in Florida, where director and previous drummer Benjamin Maus was studying at Full Sail University.
