Teen struck and killed by vehicle in Wasilla

A 15-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by a motor vehicle in Wasilla on Monday.

According to Alaska State Troopers, at 3:05 p.m. the agency was notified of the collision at the Pittman Road and Golden Drive intersection. They were told CPR on the pedestrian was in progress.

Wasilla and Palmer troopers responded. They discovered the vehicle was being driven southbound on Pittman Road by Bryon Melton when it struck 15-year-old Austin Edenfield, troopers wrote in a dispatch.

Edenfield was walking on the southbound shoulder of the road, troopers said. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Edenfield's body was sent to the State Medical Examiner Office for an autopsy. His next of kin has been notified.

Additional information from troopers was not immediately available Monday night.
