Anchor Point man arrested in shotgun wounding

Alaska State Troopers have arrested an Anchor Point man on assault charges, saying he shot and seriously wounded a male victim early Wednesday.

A Wednesday troopers dispatch said James Dixon, 45, has been charged with first-degree, second-degree and third-degree assault in the shooting. Troopers were first alerted to the case at 4:20 that morning, after the victim arrived at South Peninsula Hospital.

"An investigation showed the victim had been at a residence on Valleyside Avenue in Anchor Point when he was shot multiple times with a shotgun by (Dixon)," troopers wrote. "The victim received serious but non-life-threatening wounds."

Troopers said they were able to arrest Dixon without incident and remanded him to the Homer jail pending his arraignment.
