Grace Christian girls 58, Eielson 30
Sarah Laker's 19 points boosted the Grace Christian girls basketball team to an Elks Basketball Tournament first-round victory Thursday over Eielson 58-30 in Valdez.
Makenna Shamburger (14 points) and Annie Vanderweide (12) joined Laker in double figures for Grace Christian.
Lexie Smith led Eielson with 11 points.
The Grizzlies trailed 13-10 at the end of the first quarter, but they outrebounded Eielson 46-12 in the game to coast to the win in the final three quarters.
With the win, Grace Christian advances to a 4:30 p.m. Friday semifinals game.
Anchorage Christian boys 90, Eagle River 57
Mareng Gatkuoth's 17 points led four Anchorage Christian players in double figures and 11 Lions scored in their 90-57 home boys basketball win over Eagle River on Thursday.
Tommy Cha (12 points), Zach Bronson (10) and Chester Makoi (10) also scored in double figures for ACS.
Aaron Davis led Eagle River with 10 points.
The Lions went up 31-13 in the first quarter, and coasted to the win.
