Alaska Outdoors weekly evening hikes — Alaska Outdoors hosts easy to moderate social hikes every Monday and Thursday, all year, throughout Anchorage. Monday hike is designed for hiking beginners and families with children, on established wide and mostly flat trails, about 3.5 miles. Thursday 6:30 p.m. hike at Bicentennial Park's North Bivouac trailhead is for moderate hikers. 6:30 p.m.. Monday at 6:30 p.m. the group heads to Airport Park. Suggested $1 donation for nonmembers. Telepalooza — Telepalooza Alaska is a celebration of the telemark community that includes clinics, fun races, demos and live music starting Friday and continuing through Sunday. Official 2016 Telepalooza hoodies for sale, along with raffle drawings for swag, gear and lots of other prizes. Proceeds from the charity raffle benefit SheJumps, a nonprofit whose mission is to increase the participation of women and girls in outdoor activities. Baxter Bog walk — Join Clo Giffen, longtime friend of Baxter Bog, on a weekly walk to the bog. Come see seasonal changes. Meet in the school parking lot and walk together to the bog. 8:45-9:45 a.m., Anchorage Waldorf School, 3250 Baxter Road. Free.

Alaska Fly Fishers — Whether you're new to fly fishing, new to fishing in Alaska or a veteran of Alaska's rivers, streams and lakes, enjoy an informational, friendly get-together at the Elks Club in the Northway Mall. The regular meeting is 7-9 p.m. Starting at 6:30 p.m. the group holds a Fly Fishing Roundtable, along with food and drinks. In months the group doesn't hold a meeting, they'll have scheduled activities streamside or in the community. Brown Bear Hunting Clinic — Topics will include natural history of brown bears, hunting tactics and strategies, and gear selection, presented by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. 9 a.m.-noon, Denai'na Center. Free. (267-2534)

Skate Night — Skate Night at Goose Lake 6-8:30 p.m. Free admission, food trucks with hot cocoa and treats. A screening of the movie "Frozen" is also planned. Bring your own skates. Family Snowshoe Outing — Enjoy a 3-mile outing on snowshoes (if there's enough snow, otherwise the group will walk). You can bring your own snowshoes, or borrow a pair from the Nature Center; let them know when you call to register. Limited to 12 children and adults. 2 p.m.-3:30 p.m. Sunday, 32750 Eagle River Road. Westchester Lagoon Family Skate — The family skate is a great opportunity for the whole family to get outdoors and savor crisp winter days in Anchorage. There is more than 1 mile of ice for skating, pulling little ones on sleds and speedskating. There are also special hockey and figure skating areas. Warm up at the burn barrels or re-energize with food and refreshments while enjoying music, games and some special surprises.
