The top two seeds, East and Dimond, stormed past their first-round opponents in the boys Cook Inlet Conference basketball tournament Wednesday at West High.
Top-seeded Thunderbirds shot 54 percent from the field to en route to an 86-39 win over eighth-seeded Eagle River and the second-seeded Lynx held seventh-seeded Chugiak to single digits in three quarters in a 74-38 victory.
For East, Marquis White piled up 21 points on 10 of 16 shooting and Carson Washburn racked up 14 points, eight rebounds and four steals for the defending tournament champions. Moses Miller (15 points) and Evan Lindbolm (13) also contributed.
Bryson Rollman's seven points were tops for Eagle River, which got points from all 11 players.
East led 52-16 at halftime.
For Dimond, Eric Jenkins registered 16 points and nine rebounds, Jesse Boese chipped in 11 points and Anthony Parker dished four assists and nabbed five steals.
Chugiak's duo of Ty Carlos and Hunter Harr supplied eight points apiece for the Mustangs.
The tournament continues Thursday with the conclusion of the first-round games.
