It's a boy for Olympic skier Kikkan Randall

It's a boy for champion Alaska skier Kikkan Randall.

In a tweet Friday, Randall announced the birth of her first child with husband Jeff Ellis.

Randall shared that Breck Stuart Randall Ellis was born the previous night weighing 8 pounds, 11 ounces.

"(We're) overwhelmed with love and happiness," she also wrote in a short Facebook post Friday morning.

Randall, the most successful U.S. cross country skier in history, said this month that labor would be induced April 14 if the baby didn't arrive sooner.

While the pregnancy kept Randall sidelined from competition in the 2015-16 skiing season, she said she will be working toward competing in the 2018 Winter Olympics.
