UAA nordic skiing adds 4 recruits

UAA's nordic ski team has added four recruits — three women, one man — for next season.

New to the Seawolves women will be Minnesota skiers Hannah Rudd and Michaela Keller-Miller, and Canadian Natalie Hynes. Joining the men's team will be Zackarias Toresson of Sweden.

Rudd led Robinsdale Armstrong to the state cross-country skiing championship this past season and Keller-Miller helped Wayzata to a runner-up team finish. Rudd finished third in the state in the 5K freestyle and fourth in the pursuit. Keller-Miller took 14th in the 5K and moved up to ninth in the pursuit. Both athletes skied at the Junior Olympics, where Rudd finished 11th in the U-18 sprint and Keller-Miller fourth in a U-20 distance race. Keller-Miller also skied on the winning team in the hill climb relay.

Hynes. of Whitehorse, Yukon, represented Canada at the World Junior Championships this past season, where he best finish was 56th in the 10K.

Toresson has competed in his national championships several times.
