Prep baseball: South, Service, Wasilla grab victories

South 11, Chugiak 0

Extra-base hits were aplenty in South's 11-0 Thursday baseball win over Chugiak.

Julito Fazzini went 4 for 4 with two doubles, three runs and two RBIs.

Sladen Mohl added two doubles on two hits and Jonny Homza went 3 for 5 with a triple and two RBIs.

Service 5, Colony 2

Service pitcher Cyaron Williams struck out six batters and held Colony scoreless through four innings in the Cougar's 5-2 baseball win Thursday at Bartlett High.

At the plate, Nick Hall went 2 for 3 with a double, a run and an RBI for Service.

Wasilla 1, Dimond 0

Wasilla outlasted Dimond 1-0 in a pitching standoff that went to extra innings Thursday at Bartlett.

Nolan Monaghan won the eight-inning baseball game for Wasilla with 11 strikeouts and only one hit allowed.

Five Dimond pitchers combined for nine strikeouts and one hit allowed.

Ryan Perkins scored the winning run for Wasilla on a passed ball.
