Ketchikan man held at gunpoint in burglary -- with his own gun

Alaska State Troopers are looking for a man who they say burglarized a Ketchikan home and pointed a gun at the homeowner, who came home in the middle of the burglary.

Troopers responded to reports of a burglary in progress on the 900 block of Forest Park Drive shortly after noon Monday, according to a dispatch on the case.

"Investigation revealed that a homeowner who was coming home for lunch entered his house and was confronted by an unknown suspect who was armed with an SKS rifle," troopers wrote. "The suspect pointed the rifle at the homeowner and ordered him to not move; the homeowner then fled the residence."

The homeowner reported that the suspect, last seen fleeing into woods behind the residence, left with two rifles worth a total of $500: the SKS and a .22 Marlin.

"The suspect is described as a white adult male, approximate height is 5'6" to 5'8", thin build approximately 40 years in age wearing a black hat (and) black jacket," troopers wrote.

Ketchikan troopers ask anyone with information on the robbery to call them at 907-225-5118.
