Two men arrested on drug charges after Soldotna traffic stop

Two Kenai Peninsula men have been arrested for a variety of offenses after they were pulled over by state troopers earlier this month, with a search of the car turning up several types of drugs.

Troopers said the car's driver, 25-year-old Justin Vinzant of Kenai, and passenger Dalton Cullen, 34, of Soldotna were taken into custody when they were stopped on the Kenai Spur Highway near Alex Drive shortly after midnight on May 1.

"During the course of the investigation, (Vinzant) was found to be in possession of over 2 grams of methamphetamine," troopers wrote. "The front passenger, ultimately identified as (Cullen), initially provided a false name to troopers."

Vinzant was arrested in connection with the meth, while Cullen was found to be violating third-party conditions of his release on another charge. They were taken to the Wildwood Correctional Complex while troopers requested authority to fully search the car.

"Following subsequent service of search warrants, Cullen was found to have been in possession of multiple controlled substances, including approximately 1 ounce of methamphetamine, over 6 grams of heroin, 8 'hits' of LSD, cocaine, and multiple types of pills, as well as a .357 Magnum revolver," troopers said.

Both Vinzant and Cullen were ultimately held on charges of misconduct involving controlled substances, with Cullen facing several counts for the drugs found in the search as well as a charge of weapons misconduct for the revolver.
