The 49th Estate: Sheldon Fisher's residence

The 49th Estate is our answer to MTV's "Cribs," a weekly tour of Alaska homes and interviews with their owners.

Sheldon Fisher, a Republican candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives, lives in Anchorage with his wife, Christine, and seven children. A man who describes himself as a believer in family values, Fisher hosts his children's friends for pizza parties using the home's brick pizza oven, which Fisher built himself.

The property's large backyard serves as a home for the family's trampoline. Fisher likes to mow the lawn himself, and while his wife is the primary gardener, the former Alaska Communications System vice president is attempting to grow fruit trees around the house.

The Fishers are currently remodeling their second floor -- Sheldon and Christine say they were tired of their bedroom serving as a hallway. The election has meant a slowdown in construction, but once the campaign is over, the Fishers expect to refocus their attention to the renovations.
