81-year-old Tasered at Eielson

According to the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, security forces from Eielson Air Force bases used a Taser to subdue and arrest a 6-feet-1-inch, 250-pound 81-year-old man. Security personnel say that when an airman tried to give the man a traffic ticket, the man drove off. The accused disputes that; he says officers waved him on. Base security pursued and "initiated a high-risk traffic stop." When security forces got him out of the car, he became combative, was given several warnings to stop, and then got Tasered. This isn't the first time law officers have used extra measures to subdue the man, either. In 1998, he was pepper-sprayed by Fairbanks International Airport police. Read more here. Alaska Beat's favorite part is the parting shot the accused took at the officers: "Four young men in their 20s do not need to Taser and handcuff an 81-year-old."
