Nestlé Prepared Foods Company has issued a voluntary recall for one of its Lean Cuisine meals that in November was distributed across the U.S., including to Alaska retailers, after small shards of glass were reportedly found in the meal.
The recall applies to two production codes of Lean Cuisine Culinary Collection Mushroom Mezzaluna Ravioli. The affected meals were distributed nationwide, according to a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) press release.
The recall is taking place after three customers reported finding small glass fragments in the ravioli portion of the meal, the FDA reports. No injuries have been reported. Nestlé believes the majority of the Mushroom Mezzaluna Ravioli has already been purchased by customers, due to the product's popularity, according to the FDA.
In a press release, the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation confirmed the product was available in Alaska and asked consumers to check their freezers for the product. Kimberly Stryker, spokeswoman for Alaska's Food Safety and Sanitation department, said several retailers responded to the recall by confirming that they had stocked the product. "The good thing is that the company discovered they had a problem," she said, and notified the public.
Customers who may have purchased the recalled product are advised not to eat it, and instead contact Nestlé Consumer Service at 866-586-9424 or leancuisine(at)casupport.com. The company will issue a replacement coupon to customers who have purchased the product.
