AK carbon capture study

According to the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, Rep. Don Young secured $2.4 million through a federal defense bill to fund a study of carbon capture and sequestration in Alaska. The program might boost the prospects of a coal-to-liquid fuel plant proposed for the Fairbanks area. The money will be used to study how feasible it would be to use captured carbon dioxide from the plant to boost oil production on the North Slope, and as a corollary, whether or not the amount of captured carbon would qualify the plant's fuels for use by Air Force jets.
