AK distillery rolls out smoked salmon vodka

According to KTVA-TV, Alaska Distillery, the state's first producer of super-premium vodka (no, homemade doesn't count), is releasing the first vodka flavored with smoked salmon. Reportedly, the recipe actually uses real smoked salmon to impart the flavor. Soon, the unique, savory spirit will be available in the Mat-Su Valley, Anchorage, Fairbanks and Juneau, and even though it's getting national attention, Texas appears to be the only Outside state slated for delivery. Read more here. This new vodka would probably make a terrible screwdriver, but the makers suggest using it in Bloody Marys or serving it straight up and ice cold with a cheese plate. Alaska Beat thinks rye bread, capers and dill-based pickled vegetables would be good snacky complements too, but we're really excited by the vodka cream pasta sauce we're imagining.
