Alaska-B.C. intertie causing worry over shipping in B.C.

According to The Tyee (British Columbia), the proposed Alaska-B.C. electric intertie currently being discussed in Alaska's Legislature is causing some to worry in B.C.'s northern coastal region. Part of the intertie project is a road that some fear will become a major haul road and siphon resource shipping business away from coastal B.C. and toward Alaska ports. The Bradfield Road, as it's known, will provide support for the construction of the electric intertie, but some B.C. mayors fear it will become a major road to tidewater for resources coming out of nearby Canadian mines.
