According to KBBI-AM (Homer, via APRN), Rep. Paul Seaton has for the third time pitched legislation (HB 60) this session that would encourage geoduck farming along Alaska's Gulf coast. China has an appetite for the long-necked clams, to the tune of $80 million per year for British Columbia and Washington farmers. It took a lot of analysis, but Alaska Department of Fish and Game, which usually prohibits the farming of non-native species, has agreed to go along with the proposal.
