Alaska's Scotty Gomez will return to play with Aces

As the NHL lockout drags on, Scotty Gomez prepares to face his home turf yet again. After signing on with the Alaska Aces earlier this year, team officials announced Wednesday that Gomez will play his first home game in mid-November.

According to the hockey blog "Puck Daddy" (via Yahoo Sports), Gomez joined up with the Aces for what was supposed to be practice not play. But the athlete has apparently changed his mind, deciding to play for his hometown team after all, just as he did during the 2004-05 lockout that caused the cancellation of an entire NHL season.

The Alaska hockey star, who usually skates for the Montreal Canadiens, has been training with the Aces since September to stay sharp during the current NHL lockout. But he's now scheduled to play with the Aces when they face the Colorado Eagles at the Sullivan Arena in Anchorage on Nov. 14, 16 and 17.
