Anchorage makes survey of dirtiest American cities

According to a survey of Travel and Leisure magazine readers, Anchorage ranks #20 on a list of the "dirtiest" cities in America. New Orleans came in #1. The filth factor, which the list's introduction carefully qualifies as "subjective" and says can actually be a draw for some visitors, was posed as part of the magazine's annual "America's Favorite Cities" survey. Anchorage's dirty-city page, however, seems to blame tourists themselves (and summer's bustle) for Anchor-burg's poor showing: "Most AFC voters see this Alaskan city only in the summer, when tourists arrive en masse—and perhaps make a mess."
