Anchorage named one of America's rudest cities

Travel and Leisure Magazine has named Anchorage one of the 20 rudest cities in America. According to the magazine's website, the ranking comes from a survey of readers about 35 American cities, on 54 unique features of those cities. Alaska Dispatch contributing reporter and blogger Craig Medred offers a response to the magazine's rankings. According to the page explaining Anchorage's ranking, the city ranked highly in terms of breathtaking views and the amount of peace visitors can expect. The negative ranking is attributed partially to its low rankings in terms of nightlife and live music -- 33rd and 35th out of 35, respectively -- while the overall personality of Anchorage's citizens was ranked as 29th out of the 35 possible cities. While the odds of being placed in the rudest cities list was high -- let's be honest, more than half the surveyed cities ended up making the ranking -- it is worth noting that Anchorage lost to Los Angeles in terms of friendly citizens. Los Angeles was the overall rudest city winner -- or loser, depending who you ask. To read the full list and criteria, click here.
