Anchorage police locate 12-year-old runaway

UPDATED: Anchorage police located Katrina Edwards, 12, of Anchorage at 1 a.m. Friday. Edwards was found off 5th Avenue and Karluk and has been returned to her home safely, police say.

ORIGINAL STORY: Anchorage police are looking for 12-year-old Katrina Edwards of Anchorage, Alaska. Edwards is believed to be a runaway. She was last seen in the Rodgers Park neighborhood around 7 p.m. Thursday night. Police say this is the second time this week Edwards has attempted to run away from home.

Edwards is described as Alaska Native, 120 pounds, standing 5 feet, 5 inches with brown hair and eyes. She was wearing a green jacket, a black hooded sweatshirt and grey sweat pants at the time of her disappearance.

Police fear for Edward's safety due to her age, improper winter clothing and because she is "known to get into cars with strangers."

If you have any information on Edwards or her whereabouts, please contact Anchorage police at 907-786-8900.
