Bill Allen expected to gain freedom next week

If everything goes according to plan, Bill Allen should officially be a free man next week.

Federal records show that Allen, a one-time Alaska political kingmaker turned star witness in the federal government's corruption probe, was expected to formally complete his prison sentence Tuesday, Nov. 22, according to the Associated Press.

Allen has been completing his sentence at a halfway house in New Mexico, the state he was born and raised in before heading north to Alaska and founding (now defunct) oil support services company VECO Corp.
