Both sides of Pebble ad-war fined

According to the Anchorage Daily News, the Alaska Public Offices Commission (APOC) is looking to fine both sides for violating election finance laws in the fight over a recent ballot measure aimed at blocking the proposed Pebble Mine at the head of Bristol Bay. The media fight over that ballot item became -- by far -- the most expensive one in Alaska election history. APOC has settled with one pro-measure group, and is in settlement negotiations with others. APOC has recommended fines against groups in the anti-measure camp, too.
