Chugach Management Services settles over fence flap

According to The Associated Press (via the Seattle Post-Intelligencer), Chugach Management Services Inc., an Anchorage-based Native corporation, has agreed to pay an $822,000 fine for allegedly overcharging the government for materials at a construction project. The Justice and Defence departments allege that Chugach used to lower-quality steel than it billed the government for in building a fence at McChord Air Force Base, near Tacoma, Wash. Prosecutors say the $822,000 settlement is twice what the government alleges Chugach overcharged. In the settlement, Chugach did not admit wrongdoing. Read more, here.
