Co-op grocery may soon be reality

According to the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, Fairbanks may soon get a co-operative grocery market featuring local vendors and growers, and in the process, it'll lose an eyesore. The leaders of the effort plan to turn the old Foodland on Lacey Street into a collective grocery featuring local produce and things commonly found at a farmers' market. So far, interest seems strong in the project. What a relief; the spirit of agricultural co-operation didn't die in Alaska with the Palmer Colony after all. Read more here.
