Coming next summer: An Alaska-bound vampire cruise

The cruise ship industry is making splashes with its themed Alaska cruises. Two this summer were aimed at conservative policy makers and tea partyers. But political wonks aren't the only targeted consumer market that Alaska's wonders appeals to.

Prepare for a blood-sucking party at sea next summer.

Holland America, one of the major cruise operators in Alaska, has announced a vampire-themed cruise up the state's Inside Passage, according to Vamps at Sea, a website touting the event.

Promotions for the party tout vampire scholars, a vampire movie festival and even a descendant of Bram Stoker, Darce Stoker, who's also gotten into the undead business of late, co-authoring a sequel to his great-granduncle's classic, "Dracula."

No word on whether Holland America could snag any descendents of Bela Lugosi or any of the cast from the "Twilight" movies, the sparkly vampires that have done so well at world box offices over the last few years.

Vamps at Sea will set sail from Vancouver, B.C. on June 23, 2012 and cruise the Inside Passage for a week, with ports of call in Ketchikan, Skagway, Glacier Bay and Juneau.

Read more about it at the cruise website.
