Donations sought for UAA runner who lost feet to frostbite

According to an announcement by the University of Alaska-Anchorage Athletics Department, a restricted fund has been set up to benefit the recovery of Marko Cheseto, the student athlete who went missing for two days in early November and emerged with severely frostbitten hands and feet.

Cheseto's hands are expected to fully recover, but both of his feet were amputated above the ankle. He is expected to remain in the hospital for quite some time.

UAA Athletics says that the new fund to help Cheseto through his recovery and rehabilitation will not use state money and only accept private donations.

Those interested in donating should make checks out to "UAA Athletics/Cheseto Fund" and mail them to UAA Athletics, Wells Fargo Sports Complex, Room 220, 3211 Providence Drive, Anchorage, AK 99508.
