Federal grant expands cold climate housing research

According to the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, University of Alaska-Fairbanks's Cold Climate Housing Research Center is getting set to expand after receiving $2 million in grants, largely from the federal government. The Wallace Foundation is giving $100,000 to the expansion project, and the U.S. Department of Commerce will provide the rest through an Economic Development Administration grant. The money will allow the center's research and testing facility to grow by 50 percent (7,500 square feet), space which will be used for classrooms, offices, and more room for testing and design.
