Fire Island wind farm loses partner

According to the Anchorage Daily News, Cook Inlet Regional Inc. has parted ways with EnXco, a Calif.-based energy developer it had partnered with to build a 54-megawatt wind-turbine farm on Fire Island. The October split was amicable; CIRI cited "mismatched business goals." CIRI says that the plan is still on, that a deal with a well-known wind farm developer is set to be signed in December, and that the split won't cause delay. The farm is still projected to come online by the end of 2011. Completing the project by 2012 would qualify it for a federal stimulus grant. Read much more here.
