First Denali bear shot in wilderness area

According to the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, a backpacker shot and killed a brown bear with nine shots from a .45-caliber pistol within the original borders of Denali National Park last Friday. National Park Service officials say the bear is the first one killed in that section of the park "in decades" and is the first one killed since new firearms rules took effect in February allowing loaded guns to be carried in national parks.
