Four inches of snow on Dalton Highway brings travel advisory

A travel advisory has been issued by the Alaska Department of Transportation for Milepost 243-245 of the Dalton Highway, at Atigun Pass. Snowfall of around 4 inches early this morning in the Brooks Range has made for difficult driving. Travelers are cautioned to drive with their headlights on, and to reduce speeds.

Difficult driving conditions for the Dalton Highway have been reported for Mile 209 – 285. The Department of Transportation warns travelers of reduced visibility, with snow on the roadway, and wet, icy roads. Temperature as of 8 a.m. was 38 degrees.
