'Frontline' delves into Alaska clergy sex abuse scandal

"Father Endal and Joseph Lundowski, they couldn't stop molesting me once they started. It was almost an everyday thing. Father Endal kept telling me that it would make me closer to God." Those shocking statements are among the tragic revelations set for the second installment in KAKM-TV's "The Silence" on Tuesday night.

The documentary looks into Catholic clergy sex abuse in a remote Alaska village between 1968 and 1983. During that time, approximately 80 percent of the children of St. Michael, Alaska, were abused by Father Endal and Lundowski, a "layman who was training to be a deacon," according to a KAKM website article. Last month, the Northwest Jesuits (formerly the Society of Jesus, Oregon Province) settled lawsuits brought by some 500 victims for approximately $166.1 million, according to the Seattle Times. Many of those victims were Alaska Native. The documentary airs at 8 p.m. on Channel 7.
