Jewel's return irritates old wounds

A report from the Associated Press, (via the San Francisco Chronicle), says Jewel would like to clear the air about cancelling Alaska shows at the state fair and at New Year's several years ago. Resentment over cancellations has remained dormant, but reader comments beneath the Anchorage Daily News's concert story show no one has really forgotten. With Jewel returning to play Alaska -- for real this time -- she sought to explain the previous cancellations. Read the AP report here, and check out the ADN reader comments thread here. Her contrition seems a little late, but whatever, we forgive her. Or, at least we haven't thought about her for a long time, which probably amounts to forgiveness. Still, we think Scotty Gomez, Alaska's favorite hockey son, never would have taken Lord Stanley's Cup to San Diego. We're guessing Jewel's concert dates aren't selling well.
