Lower Kuskokwim emergency fishing closure

According to Bethel's KYUK, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game has issued an emergency fishery closure for king salmon on the Lower Kuskokwim River. The closure of the state's largest subsistence fishery will begin Thursday, June 16, and end June 20. So far, the king harvest is about average, but the main worry leading to the temporary closure is the number of fish that have escaped to spawn. Listen to much more, here.
