Nantucket whaler shipwreck found, was captained by man whose ordeal inspired 'Moby Dick'

According to The New York Times, a shipwreck found in shallow water about 600 miles northwest of Honolulu, Hawaii, is believed to be the Two Brothers, a Nantucket whaling ship skippered by George Pollard Jr., the ill-fated captain of the whaling ship Essex, which served as the real-life inspiration for Herman Melville's classic novel, "Moby Dick." As if losing the Essex at the hands of an enraged sperm whale and being set adrift for three terrible months wasn't bad enough, Pollard's bad luck continued on the Two Brothers. Researchers are excited about the find because it's believed to be the first discovery of a wrecked Nantucket whaler. Read much more, here.
