New Board of Game, Fisheries members appointed

Gov. Sean Parnell has announced an array of appointments to fill out the University of Alaska Board of Regents, the Regulatory Commission of Alaska, the Board of Fisheries and the Board of Game.

Dale Anderson of Juneau, who works in the financial services industry, is the newest member of the Board of Regents. Anderson, who owns Auke Lake Bed & Breakfast, has worked as staffer with the Alaska Legislature and served as a member of the City and Borough of Juneau Assembly.

For the board of Fisheries, Parnell reappointed retired Superior Court Judge Karl Johnson. The current chairman of the board, Johnson is a sport fisherman who has also fished commercially for salmon in Bristol Bay and herring in Southeast.

The Newest Board of Fisheries member is Orville Huntington of Huslia, the wildlife and parks director for the Tanana Chiefs Conference. Huntington, who has a bachelor's degree in wildlife biology from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, has worked 14 years as an information technician at the Koyukuk/Nowitna National Wildlife Refuge and with the US Fish and Wildlife Service. He serves on the Alaska Federation of Natives board of directors.

On the Board of Game, Teresa Sager Albaugh of Tok was reappointed and Robert Mumford of Anchorage is the newest member. Mumford retired after 20 years with the Alaska State Troopers as a Fish and Wildlife Protection Officer. He's a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, Alaska Professional Hunters Association and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. He's a former member of the Big Game Commercial Services Board who's also worked as a commercial pilot. Sager Albaugh, who runs a rural construction management firm, is a former president of the Alaska Outdoor Council .

Parnell also reappointed Janis Wilson to the Regulatory Commission of Alaska. Wilson has been a member since 2006 and prior to that served 25 years as an administrative law judge with the Alaska Public Utilities Commission.
