Poll: Palin's actions hinder presidential appeal

Greg Sergeant of Washington Post's "The Plum Line" noticed something in the latest Politico/George Washington Poll that supports his ongoing thesis that in the course of building a political brand for herself, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has been making her chances of becoming a presidential nominee less likely. One question in the poll asked 1000 registered "likely" voters whether they thought Palin's efforts since resigning halfway through her term as governor made them more or less likely to support her as a presidential candidate. 58 percent answered that her actions made their support less likely, and 45 percent said strongly so (margin of error +/-3.1 percent). To be sure, the full poll also has plenty of support for the contention that many voters in 2012 will be voting against President Obama should he seek a second term, and not necessarily for one opponent or another.
