Poor chum run blamed for starving bald eagles in B.C.

According to CBC News, bald eagles around Courtenay, British Columbia, a town on the province's western coast, are showing signs of starvation. A representative from an avian rescue group has received reports from residents who say they've seen the birds "leaning up against a tree not looking very good." The rescue center is currently caring for five eagles, including one that was so emaciated it appears to have fallen from the sky and injured its chest. The starvation episode is being blamed on a poor chum salmon run last fall, and it could come to an end soon when migrating herring, expected any day now, show up in the area. Read much more, here.
