The release date for the controversial and highly anticipated book allegedly written by an Alaskan former Navy SEAL writing under the pen name 'Mark Owen' has been moved up a week due to "overwhelming excitement" from the public, the Air Force Times reports.
The book, titled ""No Easy Day: the Firsthand Account of the Mission That Killed Osama Bin Laden," has now been scheduled to be released on Sept. 4, a week early than originally planned.
The book is already a top seller on Amazon.com, and the first printing has been nearly doubled from 300,000 to 575,000.
The book was co-authored by Kevin Maurer, the author of several other books based on Special Operations. The publication could "rattle the presidential campaign" in the weeks before the election, conjectures the New York Times.
The author could also face official punishment for the disclosure of classified information. The Pentagon is currently reviewing the book for any leaked secrets. "Owen" expressed in a written statement a "strict desire" to preserve national security.
