'Stalking the governor'

According to Politico, an anecdote from the new book by embedded reporters, "Sarah from Alaska," reflects poorly on the former governor. It all started when the reporters were observed talking to Piper Palin on the streets of Juneau after they had run into her and some school friends by coincidence. The journalists knew Piper from traveling with the Palin press corps during the 2008 campaign, but security told Palin that Piper had been talking to "strangers" who fit the reporters' description. That evening, they received an "irate" message from Sharon Leighhow, Palin's deputy press secretary, accusing them of "cornering Piper at her bus stop for comment," and telling them to stop "stalking the governor." The book's authors said they felt they were being intimidated to leave Alaska. Read Politico's short version of the excerpt here, and read the long version from Michael Hastings at True/Slant here.
