Is there anything Alaska pollock can't do?

USDA researchers believe that together with a bioplastic derived from corn, gelatin derived from pollock skin, a byproduct of processing, might be used to create a high-tech film that could be useful to tissue-engineering laboratories. The gelatin might provide a framework for new, semi-synthetic tissue to grow from, and could reduce the risk of allergic reaction in patients. Read more from the USDA via press release, here.
